Stallion Purchase

Ed is constantly looking to source stallion potential for studs both home and abroad.

Ed is constantly looking to source potential stallions for studs both at home and abroad. One of Ed’s most recent stallion purchases has been Starman, the 2025 Champion First Season Sire sensation.  Starman had a stellar start to his first season at stud, he enjoyed 41 individual winners in Britain and Ireland and is the sire of Group 1 Prix Morny winner, Venetian Sun, Group 2 Prix Robert Papin winner, Green Sense and Group 3 winners, Lady Iman and North Coast from his first crop.

This is the second Champion First Season Sire purchased by SackvilleDonald following on from Cotai Glory who was purchased by Alastair at Tattersalls October Book 2 sale as a yearling for Kangyu International Racing.  A talented but quirky sprinter, he was a dual Group 3 winner and multiple Group 2 placed.  On retirement, a percentage was sold to Tally Ho Stud where he was Champion First Season Sire and a prolific sire of winners including Group 1 winner, The Platinum Queen.

Perhaps Ed’s most high profile stallion purchase to date has been Wootton Bassett for Haras d’Etreham. Wootton Bassett was such a success at stud that he was subsequently sold for an undisclosed multi million figure sum to Coolmore, where he stood until his untimely death in 2025. Previous stallion purchases also include Group 1 winners/producers Chevalier, Dr Fong, Namid, Redback and Classic winner Saffron Walden. In addition to this, horses-in-training such as Derby and King George second Tartan Bearer have been sourced to stand at stud. Whether you are looking to buy or sell a stallion Ed is able to help you meet all of your requirements.
